Terms of Service — RegisterTap

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using RegisterTap (the "Service"), the school administrator, teachers, and their institution ("School") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

RegisterTap provides a digital school attendance management system comprising an NFC-based mobile app for teachers and a web-based admin portal for school administrators. The Service enables recording, tracking, and reporting of learner attendance.

3. School Responsibilities

The School is responsible for ensuring all use of RegisterTap complies with POPIA and any other applicable South African laws
The School must obtain any necessary consents from parents/guardians for the processing of learner data
The School must keep login credentials confidential and notify us immediately of any unauthorised access
The School must ensure that learner data uploaded to RegisterTap is accurate and up to date
RegisterTap must only be used for lawful school attendance purposes — not for monitoring outside school hours

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to process data of individuals without a lawful basis under POPIA
Attempt to access another school's data
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app or its source code
Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful code
Use the Service for any purpose other than school attendance management

5. Data Ownership

All learner and attendance data remains the property of the School. RegisterTap acts as a data processor on the School's instruction. Upon termination of service, the School may request a full export of its data in CSV format within 30 days before permanent deletion.

6. Availability and Support

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. RegisterTap is designed to work offline — attendance data is stored locally on the teacher's device and synced when connectivity resumes, minimising the impact of outages.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, RegisterTap shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, including loss of data due to device failure or connectivity issues.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to the school administrator by email at least 30 days before they take effect.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
